Two professionals in a focused business consultation, discussing clear, tailored insights that reveal growth blockers and outline practical next steps for the business.

At Working Planet, we’re in the business of helping businesses grow. We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we know that, but we’re passionate about making an impact wherever we can. That’s why a free consultation with me, the CEO of the company, often leads to a specific, actionable suggestion, and sometimes, that suggestion doesn’t involve hiring us at all.

In fact, here are a few things I've delivered during recent consultations:

  • Custom budgeting tools – built during the call and refined afterward so they’re dynamic and easy to use.

  • Cash flow planning models – designed to help determine a competitive but sustainable program scope.

  • Growth options and strategic suggestions – tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities of your business.

How the Conversation Flows

1. Introductions

I start by sharing a bit about us, and learning about you. Why you’re reaching out matters, but my focus is on uncovering what’s holding you back from profitable growth.

2. Getting the Lay of the Land

I’ll ask questions to understand:

  • Your customer acquisition engine

  • Growth capacity

  • Competitive landscape

  • Unique value proposition(s)

  • Business goals

Along the way, I’ll help surface assumptions or disconnects between your goals, CAC targets, and budgets.

3. Digging Into the Details

I sometimes joke that it feels like an interrogation, because there’s a lot to uncover if I’m going to make the right recommendations. That might include:

  • CAC target

  • Budget

  • Growth goals

  • What’s currently running

  • Challenges or concerns with your marketing

  • Who’s involved in managing it now

  • Why you reached out

These questions help determine whether we’d be a good fit to manage or consult on your program, and if not, what useful next steps we can map out right then and there.

What Happens During the Call

I love these conversations. They’re a chance to connect, to learn about new industries, and to hear both the unique and recurring challenges companies face.

If it’s helpful, I might open up a spreadsheet during the call to run some quick numbers. Anything I build during the conversation, I’ll share afterward, usually after making it a bit more dynamic and user-friendly.

My goal is to quickly pinpoint:

  • What’s blocking your growth

  • How (or if) paid digital fits into your business

  • The next steps I’d recommend

What We Look for in a Fit

We want long-term client relationships built on sustainable growth and profitable returns. That means we’re looking for partners who:

  • Value profit as the ultimate measure of success

  • Have curiosity to learn and understand

  • Bring kindness and a collaborative spirit

  • Are open to being proven wrong by data

  • Share our ambition to grow

If we’re not aligned in goals and values, we’re likely not a fit for the long haul. But that doesn’t mean I can’t help, whether that’s with a referral, a resource, or a practical suggestion.

Every Consultation Is Different, But the Goal Is Always the Same

No two businesses are the same, so no two consultations are either. But every one has the same purpose: to understand your situation as much as possible and to help, whether that means starting a working relationship or simply pointing you in the right direction.

Curious to see what this would look like for your business? There’s only one way to find out.
