Onboarding & Training at Working Planet: Learning That Leads to Impact

At Working Planet, training isn’t a checkbox or a one‑time onboarding task. It’s a core part of how we operate, how we grow our people, and how we deliver results for our clients.
The way we approach paid digital marketing is intentionally different from much of the industry. We don’t view media as a volume game or a set‑and‑forget tactic. We treat it as a financial system that should drive profitable growth, grounded in data, modeling, and constant learning. That perspective shapes everything we do, including how we train our teams.

From the earliest days of the company, we’ve invested in a structured training program designed to connect our mission to day-to-day execution. It hasn’t been static. The program has evolved, shaped by ongoing feedback and real‑world experience. And as a company rooted in testing, learning, and iteration, it will continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of our clients, our teams, and the industry as a whole.
Built for Alignment and Early Impact
Our training program is designed with two goals in mind:
Help new hires deeply understand what we do and how we do it
Create the conditions for meaningful contribution early on
Over time, feedback from new and existing team members has helped refine how we approach onboarding. Today, real work begins in Week 1, supported by guided oversight and clear expectations. Early exposure helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, while reinforcing how individual roles connect back to our broader mission.
At the same time, we recognize that people come in with different backgrounds and experience levels. Training is intentionally scaffolded to meet individuals where they are, whether that means tailored instructor‑led sessions, modified course materials, or additional hands-on support.
This approach also allows each person to move at the pace that works for them. Some concepts come easily, while others take more time. The goal is depth of understanding, not speed, so every new hire becomes a confident, independent problem-solver ready to tackle real challenges.
A Rhythm of Sprints and Micro‑Learning
Rather than relying on a single training format, our program alternates between focused learning sprints and periods of micro‑learning paired with hands‑on application.
During learning sprints, new hires go deeper on foundational concepts like:
How we evaluate financial performance and trends
How modeling informs budget allocation and bid optimization
How data, testing, and iteration drive long‑term growth
These sprints create a strong shared understanding of our approach and core tactics.
Between sprints, learning shifts into application mode. New hires begin implementing what they’ve learned on real accounts, with support from teammates and clear feedback loops.
This back-and-forth between learning and doing ensures retention, builds confidence, and reinforces understanding while letting learners progress based on their strengths and challenges.
Developing Strong Operators and Strategic Thinkers
Several principles guide how we design the training experience:
Immediate contribution: New hires start working on real tasks in their first week, with structured oversight to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Financial and trend analysis first: Key business metrics, performance trends, and modeling concepts are introduced early so decisions are grounded in impact, not just activity.
Independence with support: Hands‑on projects, peer‑led learning, and collaboration encourage strategic thinking while maintaining access to guidance when it’s needed.
Structure with flexibility: Training sprints create momentum and focus, while micro‑learning and applied work allow space for reflection, iteration, and growth.
This balance helps team members build both confidence and judgment, not just technical skills.
Learning That Extends Beyond Onboarding
While onboarding spans the first several weeks of employment, learning at Working Planet doesn’t stop there.
Ongoing development happens through:
Workshops and deep dives
Cross‑training across teams and disciplines
On‑the‑job experimentation and testing
Shared learnings from wins, losses, and evolving strategies
This continuous learning mindset supports both individual growth and stronger outcomes for our clients. As our approach to paid digital marketing evolves, so does the way we teach, test, and apply it.
Why Onboarding & Training Matter
A thoughtful training program isn’t just about ramping people faster. It’s about creating alignment between mission, strategy, and execution, while making space for the experience, perspective, and ideas each new hire brings with them.
By investing in structured, flexible, and applied learning, we help our teams grow into confident operators who understand not just what to do, but why it matters. That clarity shows up in the way we manage accounts, collaborate internally, and ultimately turn ad spend into profit for our clients.
Training at Working Planet is about empowering people to learn deeply, move at their own pace, and take on complex challenges with confidence, one hire at a time.
