Are SEO firms finally going to focus on profit?

Our friend Sam Harry at Atlanta Sky sent us this video of search optimization guru Bruce Clay speaking about the death of page rank for organic and why new organic algorithms are finally going to force SEO firms to look beyond the click.
PPC management firms like ours have long been focused on maximizing profit. We understand that the bottom-line has to drive marketing. I can only think that it will be a good change for our partners on the organic side to have the same focus. It will certainly be good for their clients.

While I can not speak for everyone out there, most SEO companies are too focused on traffic generation and not conversions. I would rather have 1000 hits with a 10% conversion rate than 100,000 hits and a .01% conversion rate. SEO companies need to look at the conversions and how the contribute to the customers bottom line.
